Janet Middleton - Design Director (& owner) of Starchild Shoes Ltd, really wanted to develop a shop (not solely focused on shoes!) based on interesting gifts for "mothers" home & family & friends!

"Maminka" is a bohemian word for mother -

"we regard all mothers as being special, looking after children, family & friends!"

As Janet's family came from Bohemia - she thought is was the ideal name for the shop!
